China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has provided various facilities and services to ensure security for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing, from May 14 to 15.

As the contractor providing security support for the forum, China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE), a subsidiary of CNNC, put into use many advanced security measures, including a radiation detection system for people and vehicles as well as a radionuclide identification device.

The radiation detection system helps prevent individuals from carrying out terrorist atrocities with radioactive substances. Those who carry radioactive substances or take these substances illegally can be detected when passing through a passageway installed with equipment using the system.2017051201(1).jpg

Meanwhile, the radiation detection system can also be used to stop radioactive substances from spreading, by detecting whether a vehicle carries radioactive substances.

The radionuclide identification device is used to quickly detect all kinds of radionuclides.

These facilities, developed by CIAE, can be widely used in the entrances and exits of places such as nuclear power stations, nuclear waste treatment plants, airports and conference venues.

Since it was first used during the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, the nuclear security detection system has been used in many big competitions and events. CIAE has provided security services for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, 2013 Nanjing Asian Youth Games, 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games and 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit.

All sponsors think highly of these security check facilities because of their stable and reliable performances. CIAE won a prize in 2008 because of the services it provided to the Beijing Olympic Games.
